i am going on a trip for 3 weeks. If I disconnect the IBS for that period of time, do you guys think I will retain more of a charge when I come back?
The IBS failure is really not all that common. What is more common is that the battery starts to lose its ability to hold a charge (yes, even after only 2 years). Rather than a healthy battery being able to sit idle 20-25 days at a regular closed circuit current (the amount of power that the car draws at rest with all systems off), a reduced capacity battery at 10 days is starting to get on the ragged edge.

After a drive let the car sit idle at least 1/2 hour and then measure the voltage of the battery before starting. 12.6V+ is a healthy fully charged battery. 12.4V is about 75%, with 12.2V about 50%.

That's great Info! I will monitor the charge as you have stated and see what the battery shows. Thanks!
