I put mobil 1 this time cos my frend had 3L left over from his car so I went and buy other 4L to put in the car.
I change the engine oil on Sunday and it was 5-50 mobile 1.
wow the car is not as quick as before
I had lubrolene, last time
So from no on I will never use mobil 1, for about the same price as mobile 1 there are much better engine oils out there.

I change the engine oil on Sunday and it was 2-50 mobile 1.

Not sure what you mean by 2-50 Mobil 1 (no "e"on the end). I really doubt you could tell a performance difference in Mobil 1 versus any other equivalent weight motor oil unless you put the car through some controlled dyno tests. I have used Mobil 1 for years and never noted any problems. I changed from conventional oil in my 1995 3 series to synthetic Mobil 1 years ago and found less valve clatter on start-up and possibly improved mileage. However, I expect that I would have noted those items with any synthetic. Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com to read more about engine oils. Oils are required to meet certain specifications so you are going to get good performance out of any that meet the required specs. Different brands have different additives, but any of the name brand oils are good.

If by "2-50" you mean 20W-50, then that oil is too thick for your car, although I doubt you'd notice a performance degradation. BMW specifies 0W-30 or 0W-40 as I recall. Your gas mileage will suffer a bit with anything thicker. RTFM.

You must use 0w-40 or 5w-30 Mobil 1 only !

Here in hot south florida the dealer is using 5w-30

I highly doubt that you will a feel a difference in performance between using two different engine oils...Mobil 1 is awesome for a mass marketed engine oil and it's also relatively inexpensive compared to other oils with the same characteristics....Smaller 'brewers', such as Amsoil,RP,etc. provide the same, but usually with longer intervals between changes.

I don't see it as a problem of the oil itself, but someone putting the wrong stuff in.

I remember you suppose to use 5W-30 full synthetic. BTW, although castrol is the official oil for BMW, I know a few dealers in the bay area who actually uses mobil 1. MB's also use mobil 1. So I wouldn't think it's that bad of a brand if both german goliaths replenishes with it.

Are you sure it is not 15-50? I do not believe Mobil 1 comes in 5-50 unless that is Asia specific. Again, I really doubt anyone could tell the difference between 5-40 and 15-50 if those truly are the weights you are referring to. I suggest though that you do another oil change to get the recommended oil in the car so you feel more comfortable. However, Mobil 1 is a great oil and is likely not the culprit; just the weight.
