Did anyone use it before (especially on pre-lci cars)? and if so, what else is required to get it to work?

i am positive that will put your phone into "airplane mode" which will not allow you to receive or make phone calls. bad idea unless you have no friends or career.

I was building a fantasy M5 on BMWUSA the other day and one of the options was for "smart phone integration" that allows the integration of both phone and music for the iPhone. Unfortunately, I don't know if you need any other parts to make it work on an older car. One would presume that you would have to have the iDrive programmed, as usual, to accept any new inputs.
I searched for the part number on RealOEM and nothing was listed for the E60. Perhaps Garry Romani at BMW of Newport can shed some light on the situation?
vlad_b if you find anything out then please let us know as I would like to have this functionality in my car, too.
