My Ride: 2005 525i - mo mods...just got it

Hello All!

thinking of getting this:
EBay

anyone had experience with buying brakes from ebay?

I also need a belt tensioner pulley replaced. BMW service recommended replacing it with a hydraulic system. But i found a mechanical on ebay and its a lot cheaper. Anyways, it needs to be replaced and i am planning to do the job myself. I will probably need the belt too.

I'll appreciate any comments or guidance.

I sell rear brake pads. Hawk HPS for $75. I also sell R1Concept Rotors Drilled for

Front - $175/pair
Rear - $160/pair

Why not buy from a trusted vendor on this forum? Many people have purchased brake setups from me and are very happy.

posting your car's year and model would help.

Anyway, Michael (Acute Performance) is a top-notch guy - bought from him before and highly recommend

Its 2005 525I

I will need front brakes soon too. 3K or so. I just don't know maybe I should replace all 4 at same time now? Oh and can I get away with replacing just the pads? I know there is a thickness of discs I need to measure, but not sure what it supposed to be.

Does anyone know how to measure the rotor? WHat are the specs? Or is it just simply worth it to replace them when replacing the pads?

You need a micrometer to measure rotor thickness - since rotor checks are usually done via a computer system I'd recommend you leave it to a mechanic with the proper equipment and experience.

Replacing rotors IMO depends of several factors:

Do they vibrate when you apply the brakes?
How many miles have they been used for?
How are your braking habits?

New rotors aren't too expensive, so if money isn't a serious issue I'd replace them along with the pads.
