My dealer gave me a X3 loaner while my car was in for aux input and other items, and when I got it home I almost missed the turn into my garage. Wow--what a difference. You wouldn't expect a SUV (oh--sorry--sport activity vehicle :D ) to handle like a car, but the steering difference was pretty dramatic--I haven't had to do so many hand-over-hand turns since I got my 545i. It almost--not quite--felt like the difference between power assisted steering and manual steering.

had the exact same thing - Stevens Creek gave me an X3 loaner and that was the first thing I noticed - how much I prefered the AS on the E60. Once you've had and got used to AS its tough to live without it.

We -are- talking about an SUV guys... I wonder how you'd feel if you had a chance to drive my car. Sport + regular steering. |
I've been driving the X3 for 9 days already. I want my car back.

I'm simply claiming that the fixed ratio in an SUV is always going to suck - majorly. |

I do not have AS but my dealer once gave me an E60 with AS. After I got my car back, I saw a huge difference. I am kicking myself for not getting AS. :notworthy:

While doing my last CIP upgrade, the dealer gave me a 735i loaner.
I was as confused as a newbie on a zero gravity flight. Avoiding corners when parking into my office garage became a priority. All my mental references to how much turning was necessary at each point became obsolete. With the 7-er was basically 2 steering wheel turns at each corner, and driving slowwwwly. I'm addicted to AS. |
