My Ride: 2006 Titanium Silver 550i, with all the bells and whistles!!
Default

My baby is in the shop for a free brake fluid flush and a second attempt at turning the eyebrow lights on. Man, do I ever notice how smooth, comfortable, powerful, and just plain awesome my e60 is!!!!! The '09 323i loaner I have feels like a ford topaz in comparison. Don't get me wrong, the 323 is a nice little car, but I have been spoiled by driving a 550 around.

I am not complaining, just wanted to jump up on the soap box and let the world know how nice the e60's are! (I used to have an '03 e46 325, the '09 323 does not seem as nice).

I hope they get it back to me today

Well, we love our E60 525i. I know that engine feels liek a go-kart compared to the 4.8L 550's powerplant.

As sweet as this 5 is, I know you're going through withdraal to go froma 550 to a 323.

Perhaps the 335 would seem as nice- in terms of performance. The new 3's (sedans) seem kinda big. Are they really that much smaller than the E60?

You should be able to get her back today, when they did my brake flush I dropped it off at 7 am and they got it back to me by 1 pm. Good luck, she will be fine and even more enjoyable when you get her back.

i had the same problem with my eyebrows. I took it to the dealership that i bought my car at that is an hour away. I walk in and they say your car is being pulled around right now. I look and see no eyebrows, looked at the SA and said take it back and fix it right. They said they turned them on but something had happened to where they wouldnt stay on. Took them 2 days and they ended up having to update my idrive. Good luck with yours.

I must say the BMW stealer's are useless and any other i might add, i wouldn't trust them with a birds nest, they have no general knowledge of mechanics and rely solely on the diagnostics machines!! what ever happened to the fault finders! i can tell a fault simply by listening to a motor and have to tell the so called technician what the problem is, only for them to confirm 2 days later!! Muppet's! how hard is it to trace a fault with lights, have they never heard of cause and effect FFS ... Rant over

LOL I completely agree Ris, the problem is that these days there are no true mechanics anymore - they are just parts replacers.

Kind of a sign of the times in the view that there are no true mechanics, but only parts replacers. Not unlike the education system, where everyone can read, but hardly anyone knows grammar. Relying on diagnostics = whole language approach to reading.
It's cultural and you have to hit bottom before going up. Unfortunately, don't think we are there yet.

I have a 550 but I really enjoyed my 335 loaner. The 0-60 acceleration was faster than my 550 although the 550 has better highway passing power and is stronger at high revs than the TT engine in the 335.

But the 335 feels much much smaller than the 550. And the quality of the interior in the 3 is not nearly as high as that in the E60. I also thought that my 550 roadholding limits, stability and general unflappability on the road were much higher than the 335.

Still, a 335 loaner is plenty good. When the dealer gave me a 528 xi loaner for 3 days, I wanted to shoot myself (not so much for the leseer engine power but for the floppy, non-responsive handling, massive body roll, lack of body control and poor roadholding limits).

I too get sad having to hand my car over to the dealer but on Monday I have to do so again and I am due for the first service -- at less than 12K miles. That's got to be a project of me driving my car like I stole it. I've put on almost 12K miles in 6 months of having the car and I've loved doing it.
