So much for complaining about a whistling sound at 120+ mph. I got a freakin' rock shoot out from a truck in front of me at noon today...leaving a bullet-like ding and a crack that's growing...immediately called insurance...but alas I have to pay my $500 deductible. Hopefully that will fix my whistle!

I can't think of a single road in the US safe for driving over 120 MPH, if for no other reason than the other drivers on the road are not prepared to respond appropriately to a car driving that fast. Not to mention if you should get caught driving that fast you would lose your licence right then and there and probably go to jail as well. Your choice.

I always thought having windshields replaced were not subject to a deductible, because it was considered a safety issue? I know that I have had about 4 windshields replaced over the last 5-10 yrs, and never paid a dime....perhaps it's just a feature of my policy, but I would check that before you have to spend $500. You're right though.......you may get that nagging whistle repaired....the expensive way!

I got my windshield shot out in the MINI and I had to pay the deductiable... Its insurance dependable... some offer it all for free I think 21st does... maybe farmers too here in CA but others dont... They do however will pay for the repair of the windshield like having it filled.

Hope you get it fixed Black!

I'm in the UK & just had my cracked windscreen replaced by insurers, had to pay ?50 excess but dosn't count as a claim. The Autoglass fitter showed me the bill, ?550!. I was surprised how much of the rain sensor & light sensor comes attached as part of the windscreen, quite a bit of circuitry attached to the glass, which I guess explains its high price.

Seems like we get a good deal in the UK for windscreen excess

In Florida, the insurance companies are required by law to replace the windsheld and possibily the rear window for free.
