I was wondering if i could put the 08 led tail lights on my 04 and how do those aftermarked leds look? Do they do the trick? I was also wondering if it is worth getting the hid halos, how do they look?

Enjoy the forums!! You can put LCI taillights (new style LED) on your 04, you need the right cables, aftermarket LED tails are okay and SHOULD work without error on the Idrive and Angel Eyes (hid halos) come in SO many varieties, you should be able to find whatever you like. Also this forum has MANY DIY's for just about anything you would want to do where Mods are concerned, so have at it!!

ok so was doing this mod...infact ive had the tail-lights and the necessary equipments with me for about a month; will install once i get done with the semester and go home...

so anyway, basically it goes like this...if you want an OEM setup, it will cost you more than $3000 cuz you have to change both the tail and head lights + module + lots of wiring + software update.

if you want to change only the tail-lights, then you CAN go OEM but at the expense of losing your angel eyes...for that, you install the tail-lights with OEM wiring and get the software update but again you lose the angel eyes...so not even an idiot will go for that...

the other option (which i and many others went for) is to buy the aftermarket cables from bruce_miranda. thats simple, just plug and play. read this 24 page thread if you want to know more. http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=42133

Ok, I know nothing about these mods. This is my first BMW and I have no idea about any of this wiring stuff. It seems that its a huge hastle to get these led tail lights (I also pay huge attention to detail I just couldn't handle the whole flickering thing). Should I just get the aftermarket ones and are they just plug and play and what is the difference.

i havent installed mine yet so i dont know what the flickering is like...but those that did install said that the flickering cannot be even noticed...(it happens for just a second or two when u turn your lights on)

if you do care about the flickering still, then bruce_miranda made a newer one which is version 5...its more expensive than v.4 but it has NO errors whatsoever...

here's the link for v5: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=53405

trust me, there is no hassle with the LED tail-lights...its simple plug and play...here is the step by step guide of the installation...takes literally 10 mins with bruce's cables...

dont get the aftermarket ones...LCI looks much better IMO....
