LOl another option (and the one I use) is to back into all parking spaces - my rear bumper is much higher and I want a new from Trinity anyways LOL

I did the same thing with mine when i first got it. I drove forward ok but when i came back to the car and began reversing the front lip was trapped behind the kerb. I had to get my partner to reverse while i tried to lift the front of the car up slightly. It was too late though, the damage was already done, the front lip was split and pulled down. My local BMW bodyshop says its a common problem, especially with the M-Sport kit fitted. The tell tale sign that this has happened is the fit of the bumper and the front wings. When the lip gets stuck on a kerb, its pulls the edges of the bumper down at the sides when you reverse and often splits the wing panels in the process!! Luckily i just ended up with a split lip and a larger than normal gap between my bumper and wings at the sides. The only cure is a complete new bumper.

I always stay well away from kerbs now or reverse into a space where the clearance at the back is much greater.

I park as far away from curbs, other cars, shopping carts, etc. as humanly possible. My passengers (those who couldn't give a shit about cars) break my balls constantly. I usually find the "spot" in the parking lot with the other cars doing the same thing as me (almost always BMWs and Mercs for some reason).

My retired 325i hooked a small parking curb pin at the dealership when I backed up. Despite the ripping noise, everything looked OK. After ten minutes on the highway, I heard a loud noise and the car bucked as I drove over a piece of the front bumper. Since I always carry a piece of tough wire in my own toolkit I was able to wire the rest in place along with the outside temp sensor. Cost only $135 at a body shop which dealership took care of.
Been very careful since. My passengers wear runners when I park as well.
