Thanks, but $3900 was only for the SMG pump. There have been many clutch failures due to SMG pump failures. I suppose BMW got lucky and my clutch was not damaged so they did not replace it. (It would have been nice to get a new clutch though) Typically this kind of failure has a $8K-$10K repair cost.
BTW...$5100 on a 97 CL tranny?!?!
I had a 2003 TL type-S tranny replaced (under warranty) dealer paperwork said $3500 and that was 5 years ago...

As for my tranny on the CL, it was a full rebuild, including some driveshaft components I believe. I beat the shit out of that thing (neutral drops, etc), and it basically blew the transmission and other bits to high hell. It would only move forward in gear one.

Needless to say, I traded that CL in by towing it around the block, and basically presenting it to the dealer praying that they wouldn't drive it (which they didn't, lol). I actually got a call from the (Nissan) dealer 2 days later about the tranny, and I said this problem wasn't there when I brought it in (LOL, i know scumbag move, but we were all young and dumb in any case). They knew they had no case and I never heard about it again.
I concur with your original thought though to get rid of the M5 before 100,000 miles, thats crazy for an M car!
