Last night, I was at a stop light and really did not notice the car next to me. The light turns green and I take off at a brisk pace (not fast) and I see the car to my right accelerate pretty quickly. It was late and the roads were clear, so I thought WTH. I get on it and I recognize the car as being an Audi (he is slightly ahead of me) then I think 'damn that thing is fast'. I get more even with him and then I notice the silver polished side view mirror, so now I know that I am not dealing with a "regular" Audi. We go for about a quarter mile (maybe a bit more) and neither one of us could really pull on the other. i let up as I could hear my wife on my should saying "you got a ticket doing ?!" I felt pretty good about the run (although only one). I always thought the 535 felt about the same as far as accleration goes with the S4 and now I know it is true. A little further up the road, the yellow Audi S4 pulls into the gas station and I follow. We chat for a bit. Really cool guy. He has had the S4 for about 4 months and loves it. He said he was shocked by how fast the 5 series was although he did admit not knowing that much about the BMW line-up. He also stated that he has some track experience (I have none), so I am certain that his shifting skills were as good if not better than mine. Finally, I run into another performance car on the road, the roads are clear, and my wife and daughter are not with me!!! A real rarity for me.... lots of fun. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing! I've always been a fan of audi's S line up. Always fun to see what the cars can do head to head. Glad your enjoying your 535. I love mine too!

WOW - when I saw your username and "Run-in" in the post title ... I thought I was going to read about another kind of run in.
How's the car behaving for you?
Have a great 4th of July Weekend - watch out for the idiots on the road!

Sorry... thankfully not the same kind of "run in"!!! The car seems perfect (knock on wood).
