glad to see i am not the only one with these issues. if i complain to the dealer, they wont be able to find the problem, so that wont help.
btw, new member in the tampa area, didnt see you come in.. welcome!

I have had the same exact problem with my 535i. After several trips to the dealership they were able to determine that it was the High pressure fuels pump. even though i told them to check the HPFP from the get go. My symptoms were long cranks, the steering wheel would shake on cold starts and the car would go in to limp mode after a few minutes. from what your describing your car is going down the same path as my car did. Take it to your local dealership and have them take care of. Unfortunately one of the major defects of the N54 engine is the HPFP. after they replaced the fuel pump, things have been okay so far. good luck and I hope this helped.

I am going to HCC in brandon, then transferring to USF. i will hopefully only have to do 2 semesters at HCC
As far as law school admissions go, it does not matter what your major is -- it only matters what your GPA and LSAT are.

Sorry you're frustrated and angry but I have to say that "reliability" is a relative term. I've been through two E60's -- a 2004 and my current 2008 -- and I've never felt either car was "unreliable". I never broke down, was never stranded, they've always started, and they've never needed a tow.
Sure, I had some minor software issues and/or strange things that were all fixed through the BMW warranty but believe me when I say that there are many other cars on the road that are much less reliable. In addition, the 2008 car, compared to my 2004 car, is almost flawless.
Early on, like your car, my right-side mirror on my 2008 car was moving out of position by itself and the dealer replaced the entire mirror assembly and fixed it on the first try. As far as the squeaking brakes, that's usually related to a wear sensor making contact with the rotor. Not sure what to say about the steering wheel or the slow cranking -- I've never had those issues.
It's funny but recently I was at the dealer for a tire issue (a puncture -- not BMW's fault) and the technician told me he thought I ws dead since he hadn't seen me in close to a year. My only comment was that the car was so reliable that if I didn't know better, I'd think it was Japanese made... (My old Honda minivan had more issues than either of my BMWs and, to make matters worse, some of the Honda issues were software related yet they had no fixes or software updates available -- when I asked the Honda SA if there were any software updates to fix my issues he looked at me like I was from another planet and laughed at me!)![Nono](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/nono.gif)
My car will be going in for service soon due to my annual (state mandated) safety inspection and the CBS is telling me it's time for an oil service and coolant change. If it weren't for these scheduled things, I'd still have no pressing reason to visit the dealership for any service needs...

The most unreliable car I ever owned was a 1996 Infiniti Q45t -- a car that, in its day, was rated as one of the most reliable on the road (just not mine apparently). That POS was always in the shop. Everything failed on it -- and it was a new car.
I also owned a 1999 Saab 9-5, which was rated as very unreliable. Not mine. The thing was bullet-proof.
My 2003 E39 540i Sport was completely reliable and never had a problem in 3 years and over 50K miles of use. Same with my 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport.
