I have this message for quite some time, I did not really bother to check it. What does this mean? and is this a serious issue?

I think it was your car trying to communicate with your BMW Service Center about a fault or need for service back in 2008. You may not have BMW Assist configured correctly or it is no longer active.

Thanks, I checked my SOS / BMW assist today and they worked perfectly. Let me call my dealer and find out more about this and post the result.

It's nothing to worry about. I had the same error on mine. It occurs when the BMW Assist looses communication. I.E. you have some sort of upcoming service due and the car was attempting to 'call home' to tell some BMW service center about it. Nothing to get overly excited about.

you were trying to use GPS in a tunnel, or a city, or at a wierd time of day where even trees blocked your signal
