Took delivery of a 525 in late November, by now I'm close to know all possible warning messages, "overheated engine", "Anti-trap function not working", "Flat Tire", "Increased Emissions" are part of my BMW driving experience. The car has been at the BMW service shop 3 times and they do not find the problem. So far they only have changed the battery. The car is not for the second week seating at BMW. I have driven the car more to the shop than to home.

Does somebody has a contact at BMW that I can touch base with before working with my lawyer on haviong the car declared a lemon?

seems like that overheating message is a common with the 525s... definitely write or contact BMWNA and look into the lemon law. I would be IRATE right now.

From Spain, welcome to the club, I've suffered the same problems with a 525, except the overheating message. After several visitis to the dealer and three  software downloads everything seems to be ok now, though sometimes the CD just won't start palying the first time I insert the CD and the driver seat makes a strange noise every time I turn right  This is becoming really annoying, this is my third BMW and I had never seen this lack of reliability <_<

BMW525UK Jan 21, 2004 01:57 PM

My error messages so far : "Brake Pads need changing" + "Tyre Puncture"

Not encountered any heating probs but it is winter over here in UK - and I've done nearly 3000 miles so far on my 525

Ps. Does anyone know how to turn off the seatbelt warning system ?

No. But if you find out first, please let me know! Thx.

BTW. It will stop after 2-3 minutes driving.

They have reprogrammed the computer but they blame things going on with the battery draining power, although they don't find why the battery is draining. I do not have run-flats. Anyone with a contact in BMWNA? I tried yesterday through owners circle.

About the overheating message, although it was displayed on the I-drive, th engine wasn't hot at all!
