Unhappy

I lost all my i-drive functions on my 530d

I don't have Sat Nav, CD, parking sensors, Bluetooth....etc

How common is this?
Can I reset it or fix it somehow or do I need to take it to the dealer?
Will the dealer need to keep the car for long?

When fixed, is it likely to keep recurring?

I had the car for just 1 week and I am very dissapointed

I am sorry for the dumb question, is it the battery cable in the boot of the car?

Are you saying the screen is blank? Does the parking sensor still beep when it's active and an object is close? Did you try rebooting the system? (Reboot instructions here...) Disconnecting the battery is worth a try if rebooting doesn't help.

This is not common so I wouldn't worry too much just yet...

The sensors are not working either.

All i-drive functions are not working. I disconnected the battery & reconnected 20 min later - no joy :'(

Any more ideas

Thanks Rudy for the link

But I also tried the rebooting sequence to no avail. I looks like I'll take it to the dealer.

I seems that i-drive failure is common on the E60. What have I done? should have bought a Lexus GS300 for its rock solid reliability? What good is the ultimate driving machine that spends a long time at the dealer for i-drive failures, not to mention having to drive without phone, sensors, sat nav, CD, radio..etc. Until you take it to the dealer

Hahaahha funny how everyone thinks Lexus is NEVER going to have any problems... my IS 350 has had more problems than my 545 SMG. nothing major... just broken CD player, scratched side mirrors because of soft plastic mirrors, and un aligned steering wheel from factory.

I do realize all cars will have problems, however the Lexus brand is well known - at least here in Europe - to be much more reliable than the German counterpart.
Well, Lexus topped the JD Power survey for many years now for a good reason. Its owners rate it very highly, whereas BMW, Mercedes & Audi owners rate theirs much lower than even Hondas & Toyotas !!!

I tried to reboot the i-drive and disconnect/reconnect the battery - nothing yet

I will book it in tomorrow and I am preparing myself to be carless for few days

I had the same issue two months ago (except my parking sensors still worked acustically).

Had to take the car back to the dealer - it was an issue with the software which was fixed and never came back (so far at least). Note that fixing this at the dealer took about 6 hrs. - its not a quick fix.

From my perspective, it seems exactly the opposite of what you're saying -- iDrive failures are not very common at all. Coincidentally, it does seem as if there have been two or three people posting here over the last day or so with similar "blank screen" issues but believe me when I say that that is not the norm.

I've been around this board for quite some time now and don't remember too many people having iDrive failures. If you don't believe me, post a poll and see what the statistics end up showing...
