Was working on setting up functions & features, as well as imputing new destinations in Navigation for a few hours today. Took car (545ia) for a short drive and tried to put radio on, but couldn't do it. Hit menu button but nothing moved on screen. Control knob would not turn or move up or down.Voice command had no results either. Everything frooze. Then screen went blank. Turned car off for 5 minutes to see if it would reset and it did. Everything seems to be working. Could I-Drive overheat from the continuous imput for hours and shut down to protect itself?
Anyone hear of this problem?
Sure hope it was a one time glitch.

It was a one-time glitch for me, so far. My experience did not follow a long session that would have overheated. It did follow a loose gas cap warning. I could use all of the iDrive features except NAV. NAV froze the knob and it would not select or operate anything connected to NAV. After I shut the car down, it rebooted and all has been well for the past three weeks.

It happened to me one time. I turned the car on CD changes started making noises ad if it is loading CDs for the first time, then the screen didn't come up. I restarted and all went fine. I don't believe that the I-Drive over heats. Take it to a dealer

Mine has frozen sever times in the last couple of days. I took my car in for an oil change last thursday, while the car was there they update the software(3rd time). As I was driving home from the dealership I realized the radio no longer worked. I took it back and they were able to quickly fix it. Now it has frozen 3 times since last thursday. It never froze with my previous versions.
