Thumbs up

I have a 05 545, the I-Drive just went blank as I was listening to the radio. About 1/2 hour later it came back on for a few minutes and died again. I drove it to the dealer that day an they said it needs to be reprogramed. The last three days the I-drive is working fine.
The car was in for service two months ago and got all the latest program updates including the new I-drive screen and colors. My question is do you guys think the new program updates are the problem?

Quite possible. They might have upgraded parts of the car and not others and you finally came down a path in the program where there was a bug in it and now introduced some bugs in your iDrive. Where as before all the software, older version, was just working fine with everything else in the car.

So... at this point I should let them try to reprogram again.

Were your orange LED "eyebrows" working with the upgrade?
