Do a google search on "Audi unintended acceleration". The brake thing is a government mandate to avoid so called "unintended acceleration". In the 80's/90's, a bunch old old farts who should no longer be driving crashed their Audis. Most of the crashes involved damaging their homes or their garages due to "unintended acceleration" on startup. They claimed that the brake would not stop the car (100% BS) and the car was out of control with a mind of its own (that would be the drivers). It's 100% driver error but the feds decided it was the car technology. So now you have to step on the brake or push the clutch to start the car. 60 minutes got into the act along with a lot of lawyers. The controversy almost ran Audi out of the US.
Interesting. My 05 explorer starts with no braking, I often stick my head in the window and start it up. Then there's all those cars with remote start.

I hate the fact that if i am near my car and the key in my pocket gets crushed slightly, the doors unlock and the windows come down. So far this has happened while sitting in my house, kneeling down to tie my laces or leaning over to pick something up  . Any way to disable this feature?
Though I'd love to live some place where i am worried about the car being too hot to get in to, i especially like Florida hence i visit every year in October

It is usually 90+ here in the summer. When I go to take my dog out before leaving for work, I like the idea of starting my car and letting the AC run, this way when i get back let my dog inside.........,
