Welcome! Sounds like you and I are similarly set up in the vehicle department. I have an '02 Mag Red II convertible vette along with my '07 550i. I definitely agree with the caliper painting. Did that to my vette and also to the 550i. There was surface rust on the round portion of the caliper that I knew had to be taken care of PDQ after buying the car. I've seen the same thing on other E60's around town with stock calipers. I'm also waiting on the group buy for the Sprint Booster. Night and day difference on throttle tip-in between the the two cars, so that must get fixed as well.

Too funny - pratically the same config, all around. We have nearly the same vette, plus, the caliper on my 550i is super rusty (I will be starting a thread in the near future with some pics), so they WILL be painted. As for the Sprint Booster, you are on the same GP I am on so I can't wait. The vette is so much more responsive even w/less stock HP (although I have modded mine pretty well...but again, I am selling it when the weather breaks).

Anyway, can't wait for the GP on the Sprint Booster to kick-in!

Thanks,
DaveR

Nice. I to just picked up a 08 550i Sport 6-Speed Manual. Love the car. Started modding already. I did 30% tint, 15mm Spacers on the rear and a RPI. Next will be the Dinan intake & software. Toying with the M5 read deck lid as well.

The only thing this car needs is a "sport" mode for a manual trans. My E46M3 had it. The 550i throttle responce is piss poor with no way to improve it.

Otherwise - good sled - for sure.

Remove the Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) or replace it with the Zeckhausen racing one. Smiles will be had, I promise. I took off my sprintbooster and replaced my CDV with the Zeckhausen drilled one and there is no throttle lag at all.

And congrats to the OP on your recent purchase! Enjoy her!

Since I don't believe I'll be upgrading my brakes anytime soon, I've been thinking of painting them as well. Anyone know the better brand to use and the best way to go about it without making a mess?

I got my NGK plugs when I got in last night and had an appt to get them installed tomorrow morning. Then I got a call this afternoon about yet another road trip.

To me the car is night and say with and without the SB. Just got back from Virginia last night to find I have to fly to Oakland tomorrow morning. Today was just enough time to remember why I got my 550i. What a joy!
