No not usually, if the OEM brakes were squeaking and the new brakes also squeak then you have to go back to what they say about the OEM brake pads. Supposedly, OEM pads squeak due to an accumulation of dust in the caliper. When changing to the Hawk pads I thoroughly cleaned the caliper with brake parts cleaner prior to the install and have never had a problem with the Hawk pads squeaking, since they produce MUCH less dust than the OEM ones they are much less likely to develop the same problem.
The other reason they could be squeaking is improper bedding of the pad. These are high performance pads, they need proper bed-in to work and perform up to their standard. What I did was after my install I drove the car to an industrial area not far from my house and found a clear street. Then I did 12-14 runs of 10-60-10 mph WITHOUT stopping and getting on the brakes hard, until I could smell the pads and the pedal began to fade. After that they were properly bedded and I have never had a problem with them.
Good luck

Which pads did you get? If you have the HP Plus, they'll squeal no matter what.

Did you use an anti-squeak spray on your pads before you installed them ??
Also, did you grease them the right places when you installed them ?
Not doing any one can cause issues. I have Hawk Ceramic and I love them. They have virtually NO DUST lost 20% on breaking but won 80% on cleaning interevals.
Love it
Plus they have no SQUEAK.

I've had hawk hps pads on for almost 4 months, no noise, no dust...using an anti squeak spay is key tho, it will decrease and movement/vibration of the pad, thereby eliminating any squeak

Mine squealed when I first got them. After a couple of months, I took them off, re-cleaned everything. I regreased the calipers and put a liberal amount of anti-squeal, and then did a crazy ass bedding process on them. Everytime I drove the car I did the bedding procedure because I got anal about it and now it doesn't squeal anymore. Plus, they stop great!
