Well i can help you with the last 2:

It is normal as when you push the start/stop button the radio still is on... It is only when you get your key out of the gate, everything will go of and the idrive screen will show you the BMW logo.

And then the traffic report: that is because your radio is set to TP...

the thing is , is that I do take my key out and the radio remains on and also I did not want TP so I swithced it off in the i-drive menu but it still comes on now and then

Does it say "TP" at the bottom of the idrive screen? If not, and you are still getting TP info coming through at high volume, there's something strange...

To reduce the volume of TP broadcasts, when there is one going on just turn down the volume using the knob on the fascia - do not raise the volume again until the TP flash has finished. Next one should come out at the volume you have set.

The problem why the volume is so loud is coming from the speed volume setting.
When you drive fast the volume increases, you get a TP announcement, and that volume is increased too. But a couple minutes after the announcement you slow down, and your regular volume is OK since it automatically adjusts itself again. But the TP volume is still set on the higher speed, therefore on the higher volume.
To prevent the TP announcements from beeing that loud you have to turn the volume down while the announcement is made.
For deactivating your TP announcements check your i-menu.

Yes, I described it in my previous post.

The volume for regular reception and TP reception is TWO different things!

So, when driving fast, the speed volume setting adjusts the volume for everything. If you receive a TP announcement during adjusted volume for high speeds, TP will be loud! But TP announcements are short, so when you don't slow down while the announcement is on, it stays loud! Even when you drive slow the next time it comes on, since everytime TP announcements start, the LAST valid volume (the raised one from the last time you where driving fast and didn't slowed down while receiving the signal) will be remembered and set.
I believe this is a software bug that is known and will somewhen in the future be fixed.
What you have to do right now, while TP announcements are on air, adjust the volume manually to a level it doesn't scare the living sh*t out of you the next time you are standing at a red light.
