I am thinking about buying an 08 550i and am undecided about the HUD. I was reading the owner's manual that was posted a few days ago and it says the HUD only displays speed, navigation info, cruise control info, and lane departure warnings. So there is no tachometer on the HUD like in the M5/M6?

Can you point me to the post with the owners manual? I've been looking for it.

You can always swap the HUD with an M5/M6 version bought off EBAY.. I believe this has been done already, but i am not sure, no HUD.

I have HUD on my 07 550i and its a great option! Once your destination is on, you never have to look at the iDrive screen. Make sure you adjust the HUD to the highest position. I don't know if you can adjust it via iDrive in the 2008. Can anyone confirm this? I know on the E70 X5 you can adjust it in the Setting Menu.
