Hi

Just recently I've noticed the background on the HUD seems to be more visible than normal.
What I can see is the whole of the square display, and usually this is only noticeable when the brightness is set to max.
What you get is an orange square that is less bright than the text but still pretty visible.

I checked the setting and the brightness was set to minimum. At night its worse on unlit roads.

Is this a feature of the technology or is it a fault? Rudy had some good service info that I have looked through, but there doesn't seem to be
a contrast adjustment which is what I would adjust if it was a TFT/monitor at work etc.

Your thoughts please, before I try to convince the dealer to fix it.

Regards

Red

Go to your contrast settings and play with them. You'll find it in the settings menu.
If the brightness doesn't change, go to the dealer.

Mine's the same actually, i have my brightness moderately high.
during the daytime is when i see the box effect, i think the system compensates for the brightness of daylight.
in the night time i don't notice it.

Reduce the brightness and see if you like it better.

Hi

I've reduced the brightness to minimum and its still visible. That's my problem. There are no other user tweaks.

The inactive pixels are obviously not at black level, hence the orange box.

Sounds like it might be a feature. But I am sure it looked better than this. We have had a real cold snap here -12C (for us anyway!) and I wonder if that could have affected the display. The LCD seems to hate anything below -2C as it goes really sluggish.

But I could swear the minimum setting used to be much dimmer than now.

Does anyone know where the sensor is located?

Maybe I could post a pic at min brightness and I could get a comparison from you guys.

Cheers

That would be very helpful - only when mine is set at Max brightness level is there an orange "box" where the content appears. Have you tried cleaning the inside of the windshield thoroughly - any haze will effect the reflective effect. I only "dust" the HUD panel in the dash with canned air- I've never had to use any cleaners on it. If I did I would use a microfiber rag and spray cleaner on the rag and NOT on the screen.

Let us know what success you have because I'm sure the reflection on your windshield can be very distracting!

The pic will help us. Based on your last post, you should see the dealer. I assume your car is a 2007, not a 1957 per your signature.
