great question. all i know is when i went to the dealer to ask he just looked at me like i was crazy. i'm guessing it would be very expensive because you have to change the entire dash and all the components. shrug i'm eager to know as well.

I don't think its possible, there are so many components (both mechanical and electrical) that you're better off buying a car with HUD ... it will be cheaper.

Actually -

It is possible and has been done. I just spoke with an eBay parts supplier yesterday about other parts and just happened to ask this same question. If you have Nav, supposedly this is completely possible. He said the last two guys who bought a HUD display from him just had a hole custom cut in the dashboard. There is some wiring needed and of course the obligatory trip to the dealer so you can buy permission to play with your own toy.

Not sure if this is the case or not, but I thought that cars with HUD had different windshields than ones without. I could be wrong.

Yeah there is an area that has reflective material on the HUD windshields. It is possible to still see the HUD readout without this (and special aftermarket stickers are available) but it is dim.

Check out these links...(for reference only)

If you are serious about this retrofit, a new windshield is no more expensive than your insurance deducible. You should know this living in Glendale.
