I have HUD & I love the combination of Active Cruise Control + Nav + HUD. (I think I saw someone else liked this combination + Comfort seat....)

BTW, I also like BMW interior including instrument penal & i-Drive screen. With HUD, I see them less. Could this be a problem?? :P

I have the hud - its great for nav, mph - but does anyone get rpm information????

Well we've just ordered an 06 530xi, Orient Blue, gray leather, steptronic, cold weather, premium package, rear heated seats, shades, NAV, HUD, split seat, active cruise, PDC, illuminated entry, leather/wood selector.

It was time for the x5 to go. Not sure about delivery. Owners Circle still says "On Order".

Has anyone had experience with the HUD, good, bad, or indifferent?

I have HUD on my Z06. It is fine, but not a big deal to me. I display only MPH, and, thus, I shift using the tach. Just call be a tradionalist. I noticed what cobradav said. I agree that some glasses situations might make HUP more useful to me. But, I wear progrssive transitions and, thus, have no problems seeing either the dash or the HUD.
