just started the car after a long period of rest and idrive tells me it needs brake fluid... cant find a diagram of where to add the fluid.

anyone?

You can do a search in the DIY section but here is how to get to it.

most likely if your fluid level is low, your brake pads are too.

you'll have to pull the engine out first.....well not quite but you'll need to remove a large piece of moulding around the windshield wipers and remove the cabin air filter cover

iDrive is just a guide, but I would just take a peek threw the spokes.

Look fine to me... Car only has 10,000 miles on it.

Can the service indicator be reset?

Yes, but remember there has to be a reason for the level to go down. The fluid does not just disappear, unless there is a leak. It either takes up fluid behind the piston as the piston moves the brake pads forward, or it is leaking.

Yes, since you are under warranty, you call your BMW dealer and schedule an appointment and have them find a potential leak. Its free service.

Or the brakes are worn and the piston is going further hence lower fluid level. Like everyone else said. Have it checked its part off the service.
