I just bought a 2007 BMW 550! 40k miles and super clean. It has a multitude of options, one being comfort access.

My dumb question, How do I turn off the car? I get to where I'm going, push the button and the engine turns off. But everything else stays on. I get out of the car and grab my bag from the trunk, close it - Radio is still going full blast.

It will turn off if I take the key out of my pocket and push lock, but I thought the point of comfort access was to not have to do that!

Touch, with your hand, any of the four door handles on the outside and the doors should lock and the radio etc will go off. BTW, I just push the stop button twice which turns off the radio etc but obviously doesn't lock the car. Take your foot off the brake or the car will re-start. As you noted you can also push the lock button on your fob.
You can enter the trunk with the car being locked as long as the fob is in your pocket. You can lock the doors with the trunk already open. Once the trunk is closed the alarm will arm and, if programmed, the car will give an audible beep and lights will blink.

when you push to turn the car off, hold for a little bit longer and everything will turn off.

One steady push on the heated seat button also turns them off. Funny I use this feature but use the double push on the Start/Stop button.

Or just exit the car and lock the vehicle with the remote and everything shuts off.
