I have had my 525i for about 3 months now. From day 1, I noticed whenever I turn on the ignition, the distance remaining before servicing was showing about 4000 miles. It has now dropped to about 2500 miles. This is obviously wrong. That's because my wife also has a 525i and was showing 15000 from new. Is there anyway I can reset the service indicator correctly without taking it back to my dealer?

not that I know off you need to PC notbook with the software to reset it.
this is what I do.
If you had the car from new then it sounds like something is wrong. 3months from 25000 to 2500

I have seen such things on eBay or you can search the Internet more broadly. Here is a link for starters, write him and email and he might give you a good idea.

I suggest you don't reset it and bring it back to the dealer and demand for an oil change If your car is still under warranty that is.

Thanks guys! I think I'll take it back to the dealer. Is still under warranty. Is just the hassle I don't like.
