Just replaced a battery in the wife's 2007 a4. I used a memory cord to save settings and prevent a trip to the dealer. One end plugs into the car's obd and the other into the cigarette lighter power source of a battery pack. Has anyone ever tried this with our cars? I don't need a battery yet (knock on wood) but would like to know for future reference.

I had mine replaced 10 months ago at Autozone with the Gold batery and with the EXACT Ah Ca/CCa. The guy came out and changed it for me, simply disconnected the battery like anyone else would, installed the vent and secured the battery. I INPA and used the battery registration but I honestly coudn't tell if it actually did anything. My battery work PERFECT! It's SEVEN year warranty and cost was like 130.00 compared to 650.00 at the Stealership! I figured if it prematurely dies, within five years they replace it for free. I probably won't even have this car in five years...

Right after the battery cable recall was performed on my car, my battery started to act up. Programings were getting erased, etceteras. the dealer dropped off a loaner and picked up my car. They found out that 1 of the cells of the battery was weak. So they replaced the battery under warranty and delivered my car back to me and picked up their loaner. I was totally impressed by their service.

It DOES vary from dealer to dealer, as the other dealer which is closer to where I live will not replace the battery under warranty, which my friend found out the $600 way!!!

My original battery last almost 4 years. I replaced it with a BMW battery at a local repair shop, that battery last about 2 years.
So, I replace my 3rd battery at a BMW dealer with registrating, it's been a year and so far so good.

Default $510

I got my battery changed at the dealership yesterday and was charged $510. That's with a discount he told me. But the odd thing is that I had an original white top battery and now they've replaced it with a black top battery. The white top seems bigger then the black top. The white one had a little indicator to see if the battery is still good or not whereas the black top doesn't have anything. Can anyone tell me if I got a better battery or a cheaper one since I got a discount? And what's an AGM battery anyways?
