Long story short....my drivers mirror has "lost" the memory of its home position. I have tried the reset procedure as described on this and several other forums many, many times to no avail. I took the car into my local BMW dealer today and my SA had a tech try to reprogram or "relearn" the home position (for no charge...believe it or not) and they could not. So basically I'm tired of coming out to the car every time and having the drivers mirror pointing forward towards the nose of the car. I'm somewhat handy so I figured if I can get the outside cover off maybe I can figure out what the deal is without having to go the BMW route and replace every part remotely associated with a failure (and save $600.00).

If anyone has had any other experience with this please speak up as I am open to trying anything to fix this.

The reset I tried is the standard...fold mirrors in....pop off track....unfold and then fold back in. Never works for my car...
