How much engine oil is needed to be added when it reaches min level?

i have just added 1litre and i think thats the amount needed to top it up from min level to max level? but after 5 mins or so i took the dip stick out n have a look, the level is kind of changing all the time? is it because the engine takes alot longer to get down there fully? but i think the engine oil level has only got half way between min n max. is that normal?

I think it says in the manual how much oil is between min and max... for some reason i remember 1.5L... it could either be for the 545 of Porsche. *shrugs*

Where is the dipstick? I thought E60's didn't have a dipstick.

1.5L or 1 qt is noted on my vehicle's dipstick.
Engine oil should be checked one or two minutes after shutting off engine. Easy to do (if equipped with dipstick) after re-fueling vehicle or arriving at home.
