In HK right now my $ \ km is about $2.0hkd\km ($0.26usd\km) for my 2009 E60 LCI 2.5i
OK this is how I tested it.
I tested this over the 4 day easter hoilday.
What I did was to filled the car up with Shell Vpower on friday morning last week and then reset the counter and on last day of the hoildays I filled it back up again which cost me $600.4hkd ($77.9usd)
I traveled 300.6km so in the real life rate is about $2\km.
on the computer it says 7.0km\L which is not right compare to real life useage.
From last year which I tested the same thing which was about $1.7hkd\km which was Vpower too so it has gone up almost 20% in petro. which is OK for me becasue now it is same as my old pre LCI car at $2.0hkd\km
BMW is right that LCI cars dose save fuel than the pre LCI even it is 100kg more on the car.
petro price right now in HK is Shell V Power $17.41hkd \ liter (Inc. Government Excise Duty 6.06)
in us money that about $8.47usd\gallon

In Canada, we are currently paying $1.50 per litre for V-Power.
The USD equivalent is US$5.91 / gal. @ US$1.04 = CA$1, US gal = 3.8 litres. I can buy premium in the US for just under US$4 per gallon
My cost per km is CA$0.19 / km or US$0.195 per km
This is the equivalent of US$0.314 / mile
I estimate that I drive 90% city, 10% Hwy
BMW computer indicates 13.3 litres / 100 km which is equivalent to 17.7 miles per gal.
My "average" fuel consumption is 12.5 litres / 100 km. Sources of variance are many. I use the BMW computer as a relative guide. My BMW computer consumption would average 12.2 litres to 12.5 litres when I use the Hwy more often. This would be in line with the 19 miles per gallon averaged in the US.
Not only is the fuel more expensive in Canada, but the MSRP for my car was CA$83,250 (CA$94,072 including tax). The equivalently equipped vehicle in the US had an MSRP of US$67,000 before tax.
Bottom line is that these vehicles are more expensive to acquire and operate outside the US.
BMW sold 2,309 vehicles in March 2011 compared to 26,382 in the US. Canadian sales would usually average 10% of the US market but volume sales are slightly underdeveloped here.
Total BMW YTD market share in Canada is 1.6% as of March 2011. Audi is 1.2% and Mercedes is 2.0%. I suspect that the market shares are not that different from the US but that the sales mix in Canada would skew more to the 3 series.
Can you provide any market information on Hong Kong?
Cheers!
