Hi guys! I'm going to see my dealer next week to activate bluetooth. Did anyone of you retrofitted AUX input I went to one dealer and SA told me that it's impossible to retrofit to my car (complitely BS I think). Do you have any idea how much it will cost me shpuld I buy parts on internet before or should I buy at dealer (is it big differnces?) Thanks for any help.

I would recommend you consider the iPod interface instead of aux-in if you have use of an iPod as you'll get a lot more utility from it.

Yep. They originally wanted about $300 but because of this board, I found out the part is only about $75 and it was less than an hour of labor to program so I told my SA and he agreed to the price.

Show this to your dealer and tell them to do their job!!!! They should know it CAN be retrofitted! and then goto another dealer... this one isnt worthy of your business...

P.S. this has been out since 08/2004

Over here in the UK, it cost me ?120+tax (USD/CAD 240) to have this retrofitted. As far as I know it can be fitted to any E60, but it replaces the CD changer (if you have one, I didn't).

The retrofit iPod adaptor on older models does replace the CD Changer, but the aux-in does _NOT_ replace the CD Changer. On newer models, the iPod adaptor works through USB/Aux so you still keep the CD Changer. But just to confirm, the AUX-IN _CAN_ be retrofitted to _ANY E60_. It is a combination of hardware and software. It is not a software upgrade, and even if you updated your software to the latest version it would not automatically add the aux-in option. It has to be done by the dealer and is not a DIY due to this reprogramming requirement.

Hi imposs,

Can I ask what you are paying to activate bluetooth?

My UK dealer tried to take ?1800 off me to retrofit bluetooth and cradle...
