I've got an 04 530i, and wanted to know how much oil to put in, and which grade is best when doing an oil change? I'm new into this bimmer scene and would appreciate any help. I've done oil changes on my previous cars, and can't imagine it being THAT much different than a japanese car. any DIY pics that will help?

Thanks

I use either Mobil 1 5-30W or BMW 5-30W. I put in 7 quarts for my inline 6 530i.

The M54B30 engine should not drink oil at all.

Read the owners manual and check your iDrive, it tells you when the oil is low and/or when to change it.

Congrats for your choice of a fine automobile.

make sure the oil you use is full synthetic. you could also check the manual for which oil is recommended.

Yup..my SA said that he has seen a few engines that regular oil or blended oil was put in and it was a mess.

Hi nickolas_g,

Seems that you "back in line".

It didn't take you too long.

Congrats!
