How many miles is too much for a used 550i?

Hello i recently came across a used 2007 550i for a fair price, my main concern is it has about 105,000 miles on it. I have never owned a BMW and was wondering what are possible issues that could show up?
If you have a 550i i would love to get some personal experiences,![Big Grin](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/biggrin.gif)

I would say do not buy a V8 BMW that does not have a complete maintenance history. It'll be cheap to get into and expensive to maintain/get to a suitable level of driveability. There is a sticky over at the e60 bimmerfest forum that's helpful if you are about or have just bought a BMW. I recommend that.

I recently bought that same year and model with similar miles. Mine was oil serviced every 5-6K miles, not the scary 15K harden every seal in the engine interval prescribed by BMW.
My car shows no age and runs and drives perfect. The price was low due to mileage and where the car was located. Go for it if it has had reasonable oil changes.

You can never go wrong if you have an experienced mechanic come check the car out with you. Wish I had the chance to do that with the e90 335i I purchased yesterday but the deal was simply too good to pass up.
I'm about to have a full inspection done at the local BMW dealership tomorrow. Just praying everything is as good as it looked when I checked it out!

Sorry forgot to put possibly expensive. I think the only thing the 550 doesn't get really is the valley coolant pipe and alternator bracket gasket. I've heard of valve stem seals and valve cover gaskets on both. I think the four I just mentioned are the big ones. I may be wrong tho.

My 545i has 146k miles and i purchased it from a co-worker with 139k miles. He did a buttload of maintenance before i purchased the car from him.
My point????? Research your a$$ off because if you don't, you will be paying out the ying yang to get things fixed.
1) find a good indy shop
2) learn to do some things on your own
3) find other enthusiasts that are willing to help you fix things
4) google is your best friend!!!!

well i tend to dissagree with some of what is said. alot of us on here do the work ourselves. just like i did the spark plugs in my 07 550i....dealer/stealer wanted $650 for it myself $73 and and 1.5hrs of my time....people get wrapped up to much wit dealer records and things, to me you can tell alot about someone from meeting them and know if they took care of things for themselves. i personally never go to dealer unless i have to, i'm a decent wrench and save when i can. guy at work goes to dealer for cabin filter change, parts $125 each (there are 2) and then cost of install and computer reset walked out just under $300, me DYI from on the board here and useing OEM parts cost me $60.
i can go on and on from examples of this and how dealers rob you when you can handle 80% of it yourself. my car has 95k on it and i'm up to date 100%, thinking of selling here shortly as wife wants something else and only want 1 payment so time for my loved 550 to be on her way, love this car been a joy to own and enjoyed working on it.

I would just like to add that eleventy-billion miles is too many miles to buy a 550i. Anything under that and you might be OK, but definitely do not buy if it has eleventy-billion or more.
