I have ~4500 miles at the moment and the computer says I am due for a service at 9000 miles. With the way things are going, I'd expect the computer to drop to 8000 maybe even 7000 miles.

I must be driving too hard, I have around 3,500 miles, but says 9,000 miles till service needed. Still think I'm going to get the oil changed soon, just to be safe since I own the car and plan on keeping it a long time.

kscarrol, a tech told me once that the OBC scheduled service based on fuel consumed. I am currently averaging 22 mpg actual (22.9 OBC) for the first 5000 miles and have 10,000 to go for service. I guess the 10000 miles is based on the 5300 currently showing on the odometer so I may get 16,000 miles.

good tip JDN, did not know that, thought it was mostly a function of milage, hence my confusion at the 12,000 target for service from the computer. Almost all of my driving is city, so my mpg is closer to 16 vs. your 22. Thx

I have 9,100 miles & the oil change service light just came on. Car date suggested to get it done within next 900. So it looks like 10k is a good number. I have changed the oil twice already at an local shop, not the dealer. I'm old school, I want "fresh" oil.

I have 18.000 km ( 11.200 miles ) on my car now and it says oil change in 2.100 km ( 1.300 miles ). That?s a total of 20.000 km ( 12.500 miles ) before first oil change!?
