Had one blow in my 2001 BMW 330ci. I was on the interstste doing 80 mph by the time I came to a stop on the shoulder of the road the tire and rim were completely destroyed. One of the main reasons I stay with RFT's. Good luck
cheers

You missed the number zero in your poll.

In 31 years of driving - punctures -yes about 5.

Blowouts - which I interpret as rapid deflation with loss of control - never.

Had one around 12 years ago in my Acura, doing 75 mph on the interstate. Hit some debris in the road and the tire disintegrated. Car handle just fine and pulled to the side of the road to put the donught spare on.

Never had a blowout. Several puntures, but not many. In fact most tyres are worn out without getting any puntures.

I like the *idea* of run-flats. But I don't like the current ride or handling/grip of run-flats.

I'm really not that bothered about running on flat, as I'm happy to change a puntured tyre. Perhaps if the tyre companies realised that we hate the current tyres, they migtht come up with a half-way solution. BMW apparently chose run-flats for safety. Safety and running while flat are quite different requirements. I think the tyre companies tried to do too much.

Usual marketing crap. They asked the sales people "what's your ideal tyre", and they said safety and not having to change the tyre. BUT someone forgot to tell them that it also had to perform like a normal tyre.

What we need is a blowout-proof tyre, so we can enjoy the German autobahns at 150MPH, not kill ourselves if a blowout happened, AND enjoy good ride, performance, grip, etc.

I have never had a blowout. So, zero. When in town, I don't use RFT's or carry my spare. I carry only BMW's flat-tire kit. See Trunk Funk.
