My Ride: 2004 545i Platinum Silver Metallic Gray Dakota Leather, Premium Pack, Premium Sound, Logic 7, Sport Pack, Navi, PDC, Sunshades, Cold Weather and HUD. 56k miles Feb. 2011

Thanks for all the feedback. I don't have any after-market devices installed in my car.

I tried with door locked or unlocked. It makes no difference. I don't get the battery discharge warning message. Dealer ran a test and couldn't find anything wrong. I wonder what is the BMW official techinical spec on this.

I do doubt it. But all these functions do need a good battery, of course.
The battery life for any "normal" premium car is 3-4 years.
I'm sure you now understand why a OEM battery is needed.
A new OEM battery is not even that expensive.

Talking about batteries, the reason why there isn't any more Prius's or
similar cars is do to the low battery tech of today.
Takes much more than it gives.

How long do your kids toys batteries last?

mine has had trouble sleeping in the past...half an ambien and a glass of scotch does the trick though

I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
