The BMW website states SMG shifts in less than 150 milliseconds, but doesn't state whether 150ms is for normal or sport mode. It just says sport is 'faster'. I searched for this info but didn't find anything. Does anyone know the speed difference between normal and sport?

How can I explain the sensation of how-fast into words? Well, let me try to put this into perspective.
Let's use Michael Jackson's "Thriller" for reference, since it's a classic and well known song. Try taping your feet while you sing the song in your head. Now we're talking.
During normal mode, it takes approximately 1 full tap for the shift to take place after you press the button. In the sports mode, it take about half for it to shift, or imagine shifting when your foot is down, and as soon as your foot is up, the shift would have been completed.
Hope this helps.

...in other words, normal mode is a quarter note and sport mode is an eighth note.

Yeah, but you have to be musically inclined to figure it out your way...for idiots like me, the MJ analogy works much better!

I'll bet my car there's more people familiar with "Thriller" than with quarter notes and eighth notes... ![Wink](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/wink.gif)
