Hey, I just had my Umnitza M5 bumper (w/fogs) painted and installed and let me just say, if you have a stock bumper, its gotta go. This bumper sets the car off. I also had my hood painted because I had some decent size chips in the hood. I am so happy with it, I want to keep the car forever. Anyway, how long must I wait untill I can wash it?

Just to be safe I'd give it 3 days minimum to cure, for me I'd wait a week - just to be sure. The last thing you'd want to do is jeopardize a perfect paint job.

If the work was done by a competent bodyshop, it would have been in the oven for a while to bake.
You should be able to wash it as soon as it rolls out, but keep off the polish for around 30-45 days!

The shop wouldn't release the car if the paint isn't "water-proof". They don't want it coming back if it rains on it- not pretty. An "overnight" (16 hr) air dry, is all that's necessary for quality urethane clear to achieve this. No rush to wax- not necessary for a while anyway.
Do you have any pics? Congrats!

CURIOUS. How much did they charge you to paint your hood?

if you're using a pressure washer or hose, you should be able to right away. i'd wait a few days at least before hand washng, and more before polishing.

parts that can be easily taken off the car like hoods, bumpers, are usually cured in a kiln. they can be washed right away.

when a quarter panel, many times a door, or roof is painted, they need at least a week before washing and about 30 days before waxing, as you cant "cure" this in a kiln. you cant roll a whole car into a thousand degree oven (with a full interior, tires, flammable liquids)

most body shops will have the car until a washable point, as they usually wont return a dirty car and wont wash it until it is safe to do so.

i would say if the car is in your possession, wash it. dont wax it for 30 days just to be safe, IMO

Apon recieving the car it was fully detailed inside and out, but i just figured they didnt wash the hood or bumper. The hood was $400 and the bumper was just under $500 for paint and install. The bumper was $375 shipped and the shop had no problems with it, they said it was the best bumper they have ever put on a BMW that was aftermarket. All this shop does is European cars. I have a pic but its with my camera phone but i will post it.

PS, if anyone is wondering why there is a gap on the left side of the first pic, that is because the shop didnt close the hood all the way on that side, in the right pic, it is closed all the wayl.
