Just curious how long you guys are getting on your front and rear brakes. I was on pace (according to i-drive) to have both sets changed about 25,000 (front) and 30,000 (rear). Then, about 6 months or so ago, I got my first software upgrade (20.02) and the brake numbers haven't changed since. I have 30,000 miles on the car and i-drive says 10,000 more to go on the front and 15,000 more to go on the rear. I'm only concerned because the numbers are not going down on miles till service for those two items. I figured I would get one set during covered maintainence, but now I am not so sure.

How long have yours lasted?

Hi mate, glad you asked. Numbers will def, go down if you wear them out. I have now 30.000km and front 13.000 km rear brakes have 15.000 km.
In July I did the Hockenheimring (the F1 track in Germany) only one day I weared them with 3-4.000 km of front brakes and the rear was 1-2000 km max. That was all day damn hard breaking at 90 degree turns.

So my advice if you are covered by warranty wear them out fast and try to get new ones. But every dime has two sides. take care that you really can get it as if your dealer says no you killed the car whiles this is a luxus sedan so check it before you do. My torque is 608Nm not bad for the rear next year new shoes and later big brakes are needed, as at high speeds the oem brakes cannot - in due time - stop me. I only go over 250 Km/h when the Autobahn is almost free, aka in the Summer this year.

The odometer will hit 88.000 km's tomorrow, and we a still on the brake from factory!

Idrive says 24.000 km front, and 34.000 km's on the rear!! If I look at the brakepads, you can see that there is a lot left!

We do a lot of long-distance driving, which means almost no braking

I am at 30,000 miles now and have 42,000 left on front in iDrive and 46,000 rear. I have been nervous believing these numbers but my SA does an inspection each time and claims iDrive is correct. Lots of miles left. OTOH, I am very gentle on brakes.

Damn I-Drive computer. Here in Canada brakes are not under warranty. BMW offers a Brake warranty plan for $ 800.00 which covers brakes rotors etc for 3 years 60,000 KMS and also includes wiper replacement an a few other minor things. The plan must be taken within the first year of service. So of course just before the one year is up, I-drive is indicating that both the front and rear pads will need changing well before the 60,000 KMs limit so i plunk down the $800.00.

I now have around 47,000 kms and S/A advises that brakes have about 20% wear on them and of course I-Drive has not changed in months and brakes will last beyond the 60,000, I hate getting sucked in like this.

Last car I had G35 needed brakes done every 15,000 kms

I have the same behaviour as you. Since my upgrade to Progman 20.x, the brake mileages increase ! Before Progman 20.x, rear pads needed to by changed at 45.000 km. Now, 55.000 km drived, still 27.000 km left. Same for front pads but I don't remember the numbers.

As my rear brakes became to squeak at 50.000 km , I make them checked by the dealer. I was worried that the pads actually needed to be changed and the I-drive buggy. But everything is OK.

If you would drive harder, your rears wear quicker than the fronts, as the rear brakes regulate the traction control. Unless you have it bravely switched off.
Or you have many more hard straight line stops.

Mine's on 29k and i have 9k to go front and 7k for the rears
