My Ride: 530iA Silver Grey , black interior. Premium Package, Navigation System, Head-up Display, Radio Satellite, Adaptive Xenon Headlights. AC Schnitzer Front Lip, H&R springs, Rear red reflector, All season Floor mat,
I added mine a quart last wk ago. The idrive stated so. But there's no update on the idrive, the service advisor told me to come back when it reaches 15000 miles.

i have many friends at BMW, and in the service depts too...they say it only needs to be changed once a year, or 12-15K miles....the synthetic oil does not breakdown as you would expect with use like regular oil....
they tell me they will gladly take my $$ if i want the peace of mind, but, they suggest i spend it in the accesory dept. if i feel the need to spend....

I had mine changed when they put my mudflaps on at around 4,000+ miles (at my expense). Car "needed" it at around 9,500 miles and had it done around then. Almost 15K miles now.

My question is: the BMW oil that is used which indicates that it is Synthetic, is it a full synthetic or a blended synthetic. Castrol sells both under the Syntec banner. Castrol Syntec full synthetic sells locally for $5.00 per quart, and Castrol Syntec Blended Synthetic sells for $3.00 per quart. BMW sells their Syntetic for $4.00 per quart, which seems more like it may be a blended synthetic. :'(
