Mine is calling for its first oil change at 6000 miles. Up until last week it was calling for it at 7000 miles, but just updated itself. Is that early?

Mine's showing another 1700 miles or so, and turned yellow. It will end up being a scheduled service at 11000 or so.

I thought maybe I was driving wierd or something. I thought it was supposed to call for it around 15k, but it looks like everyone is all over the board on mileage.

I think its telling you that you had 7000 miles until your next change and now you have 6000 miles to go.

No, I don't have 6000 to go. It's calling for the change at 6000 miles on the odometer. I currently have 5500 on the odometer so the oil change will happen in 500 more miles. Until last week it was calling for the oil change at 7000 miles, but has updated it to happen earlier (at 6000). This seems too soon to me. Any else have opinions?

Yep. The 6000 is a countdown until your next oil change. Watch for 5000, 4000, etc. until the number or the oil turns yellow, according to jksanford.

I will do it myself at 5000 miles. No way to do it at 15000 miles. Right now, my car has only 1000 miles.

I had to add half a quart at about 7k(system said to do so, swung by the dealer and my service guy just added it for free while I stood there). Then, at 10k I got a call from my dealer telling me the car had emailed them to set up an appointment - which I did. Done and done, no charge.
