It's there on the steering wheel, I have the microphone on the top next to the cabin lights, but when I press the voice activation, nothing happens.

Has anyone run into this? is it just a matter of coding?

Thanks.

I don't know the answer to your question...but when asking for help...you need to include what year and model your car is.

I apologize, I have a 2004 545i, built in 2003, I don't have the phone, no Nav, no Bluetooth. Also the iDrive could be old, need to update it.

Without nav, you do not have voice control. The mic you see up there is for Bluetooth. You will have Bluetooth voice dialing but not actual voice control like the nav cars have. You can add nav and voice control, but it's quite expensive and knowledge in coding helps quite a bit.

Thanks for the reply. I will look into buying the blue tooth capable TCU and go from there.

Cheers!
