on my 2007 530i all the doors sound very solid when they shut...except the rear driver's side door. it honestly seems like the car was in an accident and the door was replaced and not aligned properly. it makes an unusually hollow noise the other ones don't make. i have looked on carfax and there is no history of any accident and also looked for body damage but do not see any signs of it whatsoever. so it all appears to look to have never been altered or tampered with, however it really doesn't sound right. i'll try to get a video later if i can, but was curious if anyone else had doors that sound eerily hollow, almost like i hear a double contact going on when i shut it. all the other doors make one thick sounding thud.

Tuff,

Check the quarter panel ( Door Seal area )for rubber plugs. If it was in an accident, usually they would repair the panel and not replace it. The rubber plugs are usually black. They look like little random circles in the door seal area. These plugs are used to cover up dent pull holes.

After my January accident (front drivers door replaced and rear drivers door repainted), I was pleased that all four doors still close with a satisfying thud. Perhaps you should visit a BMW-recommended auto body to have the door looked at if it continues to bother you.

Go to professional body shop and find out, they'll be able to spot any previous wrecks... Alotta times Carfax dun have that info.... Car fax only has info from shops that report and most places dun do that.... Go Figure..

mine is more or less same with "CWS530" soft thunk kinda sound. somehow the sound is not as solid as my e46.

also the e60 is lighter to shut the door, on the other hand i have to slam the door to shut the door properly on the e46..

well it doesn't sound flimsy really, just like there is a double contact instead of the thick thud that my front door makes. i checked and there are no holes around the perimeter of the door inside, so it really doesn't look like it was replaced or anything. i dunno, maybe just a freak incident, or maybe i'm overanalyzing.
