Hello Bimmerforum members,

I am new here and this will be my first post.

I am wondering how you would differentiate a BMW "i" and "xi", other than the sign on the back of the vehicle.

Now this may seem rather obvious to some of you as you are driving enthusiasts and probably have driven many cars and can tell the difference right away. However, being a "regular" car guy, when I drove the "i" and "xi" on normal conditions (sunny, dry roads, not particular difficult handling turns) I cannot feel the difference.

So what can I physically look for in the car to tell me this is an "XI" other than the sign at the back? Something in the interior dashboard? I am thinking a dealer can easily put on XI on the back and send you off, although I highly doubt this.

Thanks for reading,
animaspartan

They ride a bit higher than the i series, and that would be about the only clue from the exterior point of view, unless it was lowered like mine. Then you'd have no clue.

If you took a look under the car, you'd see the front axle set up for the AWD as well. I can't think of any other "obvious" clues on the interior, as it is the same as any other model.
