Hi Folks. I am a newbie here. Have searched the site for answers to the above but cant find anything. I am looking to buy a 2005 525ise but when I checked the particular cars specs with the local BMW Dealer they said it was on their records as a 525i not a 525ise. I live in Bangkok and its not unusual for things to be recorded wrong. Its probably that the dealers record is correct but how do I tell from inspecting the car. The only thing I notice is that the car does have comfort seats....they adjust as you sit in them. Whatelse would a special edition (which I assume is what the se stands for) have over the standard i model. Any help would be appreciated. Apologies that this is such a basic question on this forum. thks.

I haven't seen one either. Does it have "525ise" on the trunk?

The 'SE' spec, is what they use in Europe and the UK. We have two specs, SE and M-Sport.

In the U.S. I believe you can only have the sport spec in a 550i. In euro land, we can have the M-sport model with any engine specification

It's very much a UK thing... and other places where right hand cars are shipped to.

Hi, having owned an SE version before. Look for adaptive bi-xenons. Comfort seats (look at the headrest + the knee extension thingy ) Also Seat memory on both front seats. Full electronic control on both front seats. Adaptive Bi-Xenons and Comfort seats are the only ones I can see different from the regular 525i.

No SE models in Europe.

It's a GB "tradition" only, meaning a normal E60 without the M-Sport package.

Thanks for correcting me on that one, Ididn't realise it was only UK models with the SE designation

Trust us Brits to have to be different
