I just picked up a set of Marino wool seat savers (just in time - it's 10 deg.F outside) and the instructions say to quickly lift the headrest upward to remove. I tried this to no avail. I have sport seats with power headrests and don't want to break anything.

Hey Pumpman; I notice you are from Jersey. I am as well. Where can I pick up a pair of seat savers? Did you order them online or can I pick them up locally?

Bump! I just got a CPO 2010 535i with the Active Headrest. It's the one with the button on the side you push in to move the headrest forward/ backward. It also has powered upward and downward movement.
Got my marino wool seat cover today and have been trying to remove the headrest by force. Followed the instruction to the letter, but nothing worked.
I've heard that Active Headrest is electronically connected to the car's passive safety feature and is therefore impossible to remove.
I've also heard that all you need is a pair of really strong arms, retract the headrest all the way up, then give it a good, hard pull.
I tried the latter to mo avail. Tried to enlist the help of two of my strongest friends, and they both pulled and pulled but the headrest will not budge.
Any ideas?
I might bring the car in service tomorrow and see if there's anything they can do. But I doubt it..
