I tried search function, could not get any useful hits. I checked the original window sticker and its not mentioned there. Does that mean I don't have run flat tires?

It should say RFT somewhere on the tire.

Since I don't know if you bought your car new and/or if any previous owners replaced the original tires ... so there is no assurance that what was spec'd and installed as new is as is. If it were, you could ask your dealer to run the vin and provide you with information about options on your car as delivered.

When all else fails, maybe you should look at the sidewalls of the tires installed on your car If you don't know how to desipher all the information on the tire there are website that could help you ... google is your friend ... here is one for starters < http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/read...e-sidewall.html

If the ride is harsh, they're run-flats. RFT on the sidewall is another indicator.

my '07 530xi didn't have them. Do cars with RFT's have a spare tire? This could be another clue.

Stick a nail in your tire. If it doesn't go flat, you just got your answer.

My '07 530xi had both RFTs [245/40x18] & spare ... but both the 18" wheels and the latter were on the build sheet as "options" !
