Here is how to find out what your CIP and decode it:
Push down i-Drive knob for about 8 sec
Turn right 3 clicks
Turn left 3 clicks
Turn right 1 click

Push down i-Drive button
Go to VersionKontrolle
Scroll toward the bottom and here is the code:

CIP 16.1 E060-05-03-520
CIP 16.0 E060-04-09-555
CIP 15.2 E060-04-09-555
CIP 15.0 E060-04-09-555
CIP 13.3 E060-04-09-504
CIP 13.2 E060-04-09-504
CIP 12.0 E060-04-06-500
CIP 11.0 E060-04-03-505
CIP 10.1 E060-03-12-527
CIP 10.0 E060-03-12-525

Please tell us what you find out.

Have these mappings been deduced from what people in this forum have displayed and what their dealer told them the CIP was, or is this from some official BMW document?

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks for the answer Iceman.

I?m feeling really disappointed on BMW.

My car was delivered for 3 weeks ago and I have the expectation that the car should been delivered with the newest CIP version they had and now I have got CIP version 12.

Why aren?t BMW delivering the cars with the newest software?

Are there anymore updates that I should ask my dealer for?

BMW is loading the latest software. It starts at the factory. Check your build date. If Iceman is right, I think you will find your car was built last year.

Hmm?now I?m confused?the car has the new engine and the updates that where released in the March production. Can it really be so that the car was built last year? Then the car was old when it was delivered to me. I will check the build date.

That's what I got too, but I just brought my car in a few weeks ago.

I asked my SA, but he had no clue.

Clearly the number that is displayed on the screen in the pics has nothing to do with CIP version...

Then Mr. Iceman is wrong. You cannot be on CIP 12. AFAIK and from all hidden menus activity on this board recently, you still cannot tell your CIP Version.

The number you posetd looks like a date of manufacture for one of the modules.
